Rain (2008) is a rare Bahamanian film, in that it exits (there just aren't that many of them.  But this film is also a heartfelt movie about the struggle of a brave Bahamian teenager determined to reconcile with her mother who abandoned her as a child.   Prior to the journey she takes to find her mother, the movie provides insights into the life Rain lived with her grandmother on the sparsely populated Ragged Island.  Once she leaves her small, quaint and poor home, and enters a larger world, she is faced with not only the sights of the big city but the stark reality that exists due to her mothers  poor life choices. At this age she is mature enough to not only see through her mothers mask but is also strong enough to find her own way. As Rain discovers her own voice the movie pulls your heart strings as you watch Rain make tough choices to survive and thrive.
